The mission of the Reno Problem Gambling Center is to provide expert and compassionate treatment services to problem gamblers and their families, regardless of their ability to pay.  The RPGC has a vision of increasing awareness of the scope of problem gambling and the availability of treatment, and is leading the way to partner with community members to improve the mental health of northern Nevada.

About Us
We provide expert and compassionate treatment services regardless of your ability to pay

The RPGC is in the business of treating gambling problems for the adult population of the greater Reno/Sparks/Carson City area of northern Nevada. Our services include outpatient treatment for those suffering from pathological gambling disorder and their families, primarily.  The RPGC offers Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) four days a week, both during the daytime and evening hours, in a six-week schedule of group therapy for two and one-half hours daily.  The Aftercare program following the IOP consists of one two and one-half hour groups once a week for one year after successful completion of the IOP.  Other therapeutic outpatient services offered at the RPGC are assessments, interventions, individual sessions, couples' counseling, and a family group therapy program.  As of 2008, the Family Program includes two evenings per week of group therapy for any family members of problem gamblers.  Each group is from two to two and one-half hours per session. A plan for expanding the Family Program within the next two years to include a complete IOP for family members is being researched and created.

The RPGC also provides a public service by creating problem gambling presentations for publication in newspapers and newsletters, professional meetings, business inservice meetings, educational forums and professional trainings, television and radio pieces. Outreach to schools, senior living environments, healthcare facilities, judicial offices and other public arenas have taken place and are planned to reach all levels of the community that are impacted by problem gambling.

Our ongoing objectives include: remaining the best non-profit free-standing outpatient treatment center for problem gambling in northern Nevada, and we demonstrate that achievement by hiring and using the best qualified and caring problem gambling counselors and brilliant and personable staff.  We met and exceeded the goals set in our first two state funded gambling grants, and have successfully treated over 200 clients, plus we continue to receive referrals from those clients. Our objective to maintain relationships with community partners in the gaming industry, the judicial system. and business and healthcare agencies has been successful and continues to grow in numbers of positive alliances.
